Language exchange and friends around the world

Why use Bifrost for language exchange

• Not based on distance: matches use goals and interests, so you may meet partners abroad.
• One-to-one: a connection starts only after both light up, so practice stays focused.
• Seven days at a time: try seven days, and continue if it clicks.
• Shared to-dos: put “15 minutes of speaking practice” on your list, and you both see it.

How to start

1. 1

   Write down your language goal

Choose IELTS or another milestone, or create your own; note your native and target languages in your profile.

2. 2

   Browse and light up

Check each person’s goal, interests, and profile, and light up anyone who fits.

3. 3

   Mutual light-up in 12 hours

Once they light you back, your one-to-one journey begins.

4. 4

   Practice a little every day

Use chat to practice, and shared to-dos to track each day.

A sample seven-day practice plan

1. Day 1: introduce yourselves and agree on a daily time and language split.
2. Days 2–3: each prepare a topic and talk for 15 minutes in the other’s language.
3. Day 4: point out each other’s three most common mistakes and add them to your to-dos.
4. Days 5–6: talk about daily life and culture in your cities.
5. Day 7: review your progress and decide whether to continue.
