# Bifrost user guide

From your first milestone to a completed seven-day journey. This guide reflects the current public version of the app.

## 1. Download and set up your profile

Get the app from the [download page](https://www.birost.cn/download/en.html), sign in, and add a photo, a short bio, and your interests. The more specific your profile, the better your matches. Before mutual interest, other people only see a translucent version of your photo.

## 2. Pick a near-term milestone

On the to-do screen, set a near-term milestone: choose one from the list (such as a graduate entrance exam, CET, or IELTS) or create your own, and pick a target date. Your milestone is the main signal Bifrost uses to recommend partners.

## 3. Review matches and light someone up

On the companion screen, each card shows the other person’s goal, interests, profile, and match score. Bifrost spreads visibility evenly so more people get seen. If it feels like a fit, light them up.

## 4. Wait for a light-up back within 12 hours

If the other person lights you up within 12 hours, a one-to-one journey begins. If not, no connection is created and you can keep browsing.

## 5. The seven-day journey: shared to-dos

- Write down each day’s to-dos. Your partner sees your list and progress, and you see theirs.
- Be specific: “learn 50 words” is easier to finish and compare than “study English”.
- Chat any time to nudge each other and share progress.

## 6. After seven days

When the seven days are complete, clear photos unlock. Each of you can choose whether to start another seven days. The journey is always seven days; “21 days” only refers to the book publishing check-in.

## 7. Focus timer

Start a focus session when you need to concentrate, alone or with a friend you invite, and share your focus timer.

## 8. Discover

Publish posts with images and set each one to public, friends only, or only me. Browse, comment on, and save posts you like.

## 9. Direct and group chats

Chat with friends one-to-one, or create and join group chats with announcements and QR code invites.

## 10. Bifrost AI

The built-in Bifrost AI assistant answers questions, helps you think and write, supports voice input, and can run scheduled AI tasks. AI-generated content is clearly labeled. Every partner recommended to you is a real person, not AI.

## 11. Use Bifrost on your computer

Install the Windows, macOS, or Linux app from the [download page](https://www.birost.cn/download/en.html#desktop-downloads) and sign in by scanning the QR code with your phone.

## 12. Privacy and safety

- The current version does not request location permission or collect precise location.
- Report inappropriate content and turn on youth mode when needed.
